My mission statement
My mission is to live my life deliberately by continuously acting according to my compass, informed by my jiyū shūkyō—a creative, free, inquiring, and liberative religion and spirituality, founded on a deep and honest understanding of myself, my kapwa, and the universe.
Every day, I try to "suck all the marrow out of life" through a pursuit of beauty, meaning, and wisdom. I maintain daily practices that help me do so. Seiza meditation and walking help me directly interact with the universe, while mindful reading, journaling, and studying through my talahardin help me learn from existing archetypes of the life I want to live.
I strengthen my personal practices through a ministry that leads me back to my kapwa, the cooperative community, and the cosmic cooperative community. I do this by joining and facilitating meditation and conversation with others: my partner, friends, and the communities I'm a part of. Mindful that my actions always affect others, I also practice compassion and strive to deepen my connection with fellow humans and other sentient beings at every moment no matter where I am.
My jiyū shūkyō ministry further extends toward sharing what I learn from my personal and community practices, specifically by writing and photography. My goal is to create artifacts that share my spiritual footprints to my fellow jiyūshūkyōjin, hoping that these will guide and inspire them to continue to live deliberately and practice their own jiyū shūkyō.
To support myself in this mission, I take care of my mind and body so that I'm always at my best state. Mindful that how I move through the material economy affects how I help build the world I want to live in, I try to provide for my material needs through meaningful work, use resources efficiently, and limit my interaction with the exchange economy by developing self-reliance.
