Authentic to a few, cautious to many

Underneath all public image is a messy complicated human being. This is ok. We don't have to live in public. Being authentic does not require that one comprehensively displays that authenticity to the public all the time. Doing so can hurt us because we are putting our sensitive selves in the middle of a harsh context.

Be authentic around those who really matter then be as cautious as you deem necessary around unfamiliar others.

This isn't inauthenticity. This is wisdom.
