It is uncomfortable to read works that break writing conventions

The Western way of doing good writing has dominated writing cultures all over the world. To break these writing conventions can be uncomfortable because, we become good writers via osmosis. It is uncomfortable because we have become so used to the prevailing rules of what makes good writing that everything else is completely foreign.

Aside from this, it is uncomfortable to write against writing conventions.
