My creative artifacts

My writing practice is inside first, outside second. I prioritize often marginalized genres of writing, such as journaling, trusting that the raw and unedited is often closer to the truth. I see my individual writings, even those that have already been published, as drafts and my body of work as a large evolving archive that is never finished.

That said, my ultimate goal with my writing, photography, and walking practices is to create beautiful books that people could return to again and again for spiritual nourishment (i.e., lyrical philosophy). Specifically, I want to play around the idea of combining personal narratives, philosophical thinking, cultural references, and historical descriptions in a project that is situated in a specific geographical location explored through walking. Whether it will happen through intentionally connecting with people in my walks or simply thinking about how words, sentences, and lives belong to one another on the page, I want the entire process of creating my books to be a way for me to return to Oneness. Returning to Oneness means reconnecting with the whole, the santinakpan, which consists of myself, my kapwa, society, and the nonhuman world. Likewise, I want those who will read my books to feel the same.

For me to arrive at books, it is necessary to produce intermediate packets (IPs) of creative artifacts that progress through different levels until they are used for the creation of books.

The creative artifacts I want to produce include:

  1. Notes in the talahardin: 04 notes/seeds, 04 notes/seedlings, and 04 notes/evergreens
  2. Photos
  3. Poems
  4. Newsletter updates
  5. Essays
  6. Books

Here are the artifacts in different stages of my creative process.

Level 1

L1 IPs are the inputs captured through several inboxes (camera, journal, etc.). These inputs need to be processed. These IPs include:

Level 2

When L1 IPs are processed and storied, they become L2 IPs. These IPs are resources that are easily accessible and ready to be deployed for any projects. These IPs include:

Level 3

When L2 IPs are deployed to be used into projects, their synthesis create publishable (yet still intermediate) artifacts. These IPs include:

Level 4

The integration of L2 and L3 IPs create the ultimate publishable artifact in my life work:
