When It Rains
Rain reminds us
Of how fragile we are,
Of how much we want to be alive.
We thirst for life.
Rain reminds us that we want health
More than anything else in life
Rain reminds us that there is a world out there
Bigger than our laptops and smartphones
Mountains, oh blue mountains!
They too come alive when it rains.
For all of us are astonished
When nature heeds our call
And rain pours heavily on a barren tired land
Because we all are broken
Or rather, we “feel” broken,
Even if we’re not
And we need a gentle, soft caress
Of a summer afternoon shower.
