Literature notes
Now, I have a word to replace God with—the Great Life. My veneration has direction and, for some reason, this gives me peace and inspiration to make the most out of this life. It is still unclear to me, though, how Amida or the Other Power enters here. I've read in Andrew's writing somewhere that the Great Life = the Other Power. But if the Other Power is the receiver of my veneration, who or what is Amida. How does Andrew fit all these into his worldview?
And this is how, somehow, I've found myself replacing Jehovah.
How do I converse with it though? This Great Life. Everything I've been doing these years I'm outside the church has been listening to whatever this is. And perhaps through writing, art, and actions. Through creativity that births new forms and thoughts, I am connected to it. While Andrew is jiyū shūkyō's Emerson, I ought to be Thoreau. I always use Thoreau, conversing with the Great Life outdoors through my feet and poetic prose. It is in walks, in long ones that I'm able to listen and really see and feel and find solace in the Great Life. To make the most of these walks is my religion—my own unique expression of the Great Life.
